TPO technical walkway with a non-slip surface, designed to be welded onto the main waterproofing membrane, creating technical walkways on roofs.

Scope

  • Protect NEXALON TPO membranes in areas exposed to repetitive foot traffic and other hazards. Walkways should be installed at all traffic concentration points such as roof hatches, access doors, rooftop stairs, etc., regardless of traffic frequency.

Advantages & Benefits

  • Allows technical access to the roof.
  • Protects waterproofing.
  • Greater slip resistance thanks to the diamond-shaped tread pattern.
  • The edges of the walkways are marked with safety yellow to better define the designated traffic flow.
  • The yellow edges are smooth and free of protruding elements to facilitate welding.
  • High-quality weather protection package for long-term performance.

Instruction for Use

  • Before welding the walkway material, prepare the membrane with the cleaner for membranes exposed to weather.
  • Place the walkway material in the desired position. Cut walkway rolls into maximum lengths of 3 meters and place them with a minimum distance of 2.5 cm between adjacent pieces to allow water drainage. Cut each roll to create a minimum 10 cm space over the field seams. Since the walkway attachment to the membrane is permanent, this allows access to the field seams.
  • Using an automatic welder, weld all four sides of the walkway material to the membrane. Generally, the same speed and temperature settings as for membrane-to-membrane welding are used for this procedure. A weld test is recommended before performing welds on an installed membrane. A hand welder can be used, but productivity will be reduced.

Indications and Important Recommendations

  • This product should be used solely as a walkway and is not designed as a perimeter warning line or as a substitute for ballast. Walkway rolls cannot be installed within 3 meters of the roof perimeter.
  • Allow the walkway to relax and warm up in the sun before welding it in the desired location.
  • Whenever possible, weld the walkway rolls when the ambient temperature is above 16 ºC to avoid wrinkles.
