SELF-DAN PE

Self-adhesive SBS elastomeric, easy peel 1.5mm membrane.

Product variations:
SELF-DAN PE is a self-adhesive membrane manufactured with bituminous selected mastic modified with high performance SBS polymers, this will provide, easy application and great durability. As a top layer it has a HDPE film, which will provide better mechanical resistance, puncture resistance (static and dynamic) and high elongation characteristics. At the bottom side it has a releasable film.

Scope

  • Radon gas barrier.
  • Waterproofing of buried structures and foundations.
  • Waterproofing sheet under tiles on pitched roofs.
  • Tanking membrane.
  • It is used for waterproofing basement walls, made of concrete or rendered solid brick, provided that the solution is previously primed on the substrate and the sheet is protected with a DANODREN type drainage sheet on the outside face in contact with the ground.
  • It is also used under tiles on pitched roofs to ensure that the roof is watertight in the event of displacement or breakage of the pieces.

Advantages & Benefits

  • Application at room temperature.
  • Ensures the airtightness of the roof against tile breakages.
  • Helps to increase the durability of the sheet.
  • It retains its properties better over time.
  • Ease and speed of installation
  • Total impermeability to water and water vapour.
  • Rot-proof.
  • The membrane, composed of a polymer-modified bitumen mastic that substantially improves on other bituminous mastics, provides better performance in terms of reaction at high and low temperatures, elasticity and resistance to ageing, which leads to greater durability of the sheet and greater safety of the waterproofing membrane.
  • Very stable in the long term.
  • Perfectly adheres to a large number of substrates (concrete, fibre, cement, metal, tile, etc.).
  • Adapts to the substrate geometry with ease.

Instruction for Use

Preparation of the substrate:
  • The surface of the base substrate must be resistant, uniform, smooth, clean, dry and free of foreign bodies. A previous cleaning of the substrate is recommended.
  • In the case of porous or inhomogeneous substrates, adhesion tests and application of CURIDAN bituminous primer are recommended.
Waterproofing:
  • Waterproofing on the outside back of walls: a bituminous primer (CuridĂ¡n, ImpridĂ¡n 100, MaxdĂ¡n or MaxdĂ¡n Caucho) must be applied beforehand. The rolls are placed in a vertical position. The film is adhered to the substrate by removing the film from the underside and at the same time pressing with a blunt scraper or with gloves from the inside out to avoid the formation of pockets. The overlaps should be made in the same way from roll to roll, and should be 8 cm in both longitudinal and transversal directions. For easier installation, it is recommended to cut the rolls into smaller, more manageable dimensions.
  • Other uses: A bituminous primer (CuridĂ¡n, ImpridĂ¡n 100, MaxdĂ¡n or MaxdĂ¡n Caucho) should be applied beforehand. The adhesion of the film to the substrate is done by removing the film from the underside and pressing at the same time with a blunt scraper or with gloves, from the inside outwards to avoid the formation of pockets. The overlaps must be made in the same way from roll to roll, and shall be 8 cm. in both longitudinal and transversal directions.
  • Under tile sheeting in adhered system with heavy protection: A bituminous primer (CuridĂ¡n, ImpridĂ¡n 100, MaxdĂ¡n or MaxdĂ¡n Caucho) must be applied beforehand. The rolls are preferably laid parallel to the line of maximum slope. The adhesion of the film to the substrate is achieved by removing the film from the underside and at the same time pressing with a blunt scraper or with gloves, from the inside outwards to avoid the formation of pockets. The overlaps must be made in the same way from roll to roll, and shall be 8 cm. in both longitudinal and transversal directions.

Indications and Important Recommendations

  • As with any self-adhesive product, it is important that the surfaces to be glued are as clean as possible.
  • It should be kept in the sun for as short a time as possible to protect it from UV rays.
  • In case of new construction and renovation, possible chemical incompatibilities with APP plastomer-modified bitumen sheets shall be taken into account.
  • In case of refurbishment, chemical incompatibilities with old waterproofing systems consisting of PVC membranes, modified tar-based mastics or any other, shall be taken into account, and it may be necessary to remove them completely or to use suitable separating layers.
  • If it is necessary to adhere to metallic or slightly porous elements, a bituminous primer (IMPRIDAN 100) shall be applied to the entire surface to be welded beforehand.
  • Not suitable on flat roofs as permanent waterproofing layer.
  • During cold weather, the substrate, if uncombustible, can be heated with the torch or other means.
  • This product may form part of a waterproofing system, so all the documents referred to in the Danosa Solutions Manual must be taken into account, as well as all the regulations and legislation that must be complied with in this respect.
  • Exposure to the sun can make it difficult to remove the release film. The temperature of the membrane during installation must not exceed 50ºC.
  • It must not be installed when the ambient, product or substrate temperature is below +10°C.
  • There is no chemical incompatibility between the Danosa range of SBS elastomeric bitumen and plastomeric bitumen sheets.
  • Not suitable as cap sheet on green roofs; use GARDEN variant.
  • Possible incompatibility between thermal insulation and waterproofing shall be checked.
  • A separating layer (DANOFELT or DANODREN) must be laid before laying the heavy protection (paving, gravel, topsoil, etc.), except in the case of waterproofing under tiles.
  • Polyurethane foam shall not be sprayed directly on top of the waterproofing without the use of a suitable separating layer (geotextiles, mortar layers, polyethylene film, etc).
  • It is recommended to protect after installation.
  • If expansion that could affect the sheet is expected, a geotextile separating layer (Danofelt PY 200) shall be used between the sheet and the extruded polystyrene insulation panels, so that each product expands independently.
  • Once installed, the product must not be exposed to UV rays.
  • NOTE: For more information on the Danosa systems in which this product is used, please see the document "Waterproofing Solutions".
