Installation video
Scope
- Waterproofing of balconies and terraces.
- Roof waterproofing.
Advantages & Benefits
- High resistance to root penetration.
- Suitable for vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Support
- Concrete, ceramics, steel, sheet metal, aluminum, aged PVC (Contact the Technical Department for a system analysis), bituminous sheets, polyurethane foam density >50 kg/m³, wood, etc.
Substrate preparation
- CONCRETE / MORTAR: The substrate must be cured for at least 28 days and have a compressive strength of at least 25 MPa. The residual moisture content must be below 8%. The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point temperature. All loose particles and contaminants that may impair adhesion must be removed by mechanical means such as grinding, milling, or shot blasting. Before applying DANOPRIMER® EP primer, any defects in the substrate must be repaired. Honeycombs or areas with missing material must be repaired using an R3 repair mortar in accordance with EN 1504-3. Existing cracks must be opened with a diamond disc to a depth of 1 to 2 cm, the resulting dust must be vacuumed away, and the cracks filled with ELASTYDAN® PU40 polyurethane-based elastic sealant. If the cracks exhibit movement, a 75 mm wide DANOBAND® Butyl self-adhesive tape must then be applied along their entire length.
- BITUMINOUS MEMBRANES / BITUMINOUS COATINGS: The entire surface must be cleaned to remove loose or poorly bonded particles, dust, and any other deposits. The membrane must be fully bonded to the substrate or mechanically fastened. Do not apply over tacky or poorly bonded bituminous coatings. On this type of substrate, apply DANOPRIMER® primer.
- METAL / STEEL: Metal surfaces must be prepared by abrasive blast cleaning to SA 2.5. Oils and grease must be removed using suitable solvents. Apply DANOPRIMER® PU primer. The primer must be applied within a maximum of 8 hours after abrasive blasting to prevent surface oxidation.
Instruction for Use
- Before applying the product, check that the application surface is dry, clean and free of solid debris and irregularities.
- Protect yourself adequately for handling the components with appropriate gloves and mask. See safety data sheet.
- Mix the two components in the plastic container to a uniform mass.
- Apply to cracks and joints first. We recommend using 4×4 mm fibreglass reinforcement (PX160 mesh).
- Use a trowel/roller to apply the first coat and place in fresh PX160 Mesh reinforcement also in the corners.
- Apply the remaining coats crosswise to the previous coat for best result (see Drying Time).
Cleaning of Work Tools
- If the product is fresh, with water
- If the product is dry, scraping
Safety and hygiene
- Consult the safety data sheet.
